Ubuntu is one of the popular Linux distribution. It is free and available as open source but it is not user friendly as Windows. Users often attempt to master the features on their own with online resources and articles. However, beginners will find it difficult to learn Ubuntu without a reference material.

Chapters 3, 4 and 5 examines Linux desktop, Internet connection and Internet related aspects. You will learn how to download, install and update programs in chapter 6. Chapter 7 and 8 examines file, disc handling and command line. You will learn the usage of various commands.

The authors have examined the concepts with screenshots and detailed explanation of each commands. Chapter 9 examines thedifferent ways to customize the look and feel of Ubuntu. The next chapter explores the usage of printers and scanners. You will learn the steps required to connect and configure printers and scanners. Chapter 11 provides a detailed coverage of configuration and usage of various languages.

Chapters 12 and 13 examines the working of various applications included with Ubuntu and imaging tools to work with Images. Chapters 14, 15 and 16 provides a detailed overview of music files, video and DVD playback including the usage of iPod, iPhone and other devices.

The author has examined the concepts with the help of comprehensive explanation, projects, step-by-step instructions and screenshots.

I noticed that author has provided lengthy explanation to few projects. I feel that readers might not read lengthy explanations and should be reduced by giving njotes and hints at appropriate places. The book also includes a CD which I hope will be useful for learners.

Ubuntu Made Easy will be very useful for those who wish to test drive and work with the operating system.
